RIP - Just for Friends

i’m very sad to report that robert has taken down his site Just for Friends. it has been up and running in many different forms throughout the years, and has always been a great place for a group of us to share, discuss and, at times, press some buttons. nathan mentioned that the straw that broke the camel’s back was frustration with WordPress. regardless of the reasons, I know I will be just one of many people that will miss all that his site had to offer.

he is still sharing through FriendFeed, but that service has more of an automated content distribution feel and less discussion. he’s hoping everyone will jump on board, I know i’m willing to check it out.

Happy Halloween!

To help keep everyone safe this Halloween, I wanted to share a video on how to survive a zombie attack.

nice moustache

for people who enjoy pretending to be in cognito, the ante has just been upped. apparently a tattoo shop in rhode island has started giving moustache tattoos (YouTube). or more specifically, moustache tattoos on your finger that allow you to quickly slip into disguise. i thought this was a ridiculous joke created by the Joy of Tech comic, but no, it’s true. so if you’ve ever longed for the perfect simple disguise, head to rhode island.

i heart bikes (and socks) and epcot!

a few weeks ago chris and melissa came into town and we immersed ourselves in the epcot experience. although it was melissa’s birthday, pilar and i made out like bandits with the new i heart bikes socks. they are badass, and i encourage everyone to buy a pair now! besides, how can you go wrong with the fine workmanship of sock guy. but i digress.

early march is definitely the time to visit the theme parks in orlando. it’s off season, meaning fewer people, and the weather is much better than the sticky, sweaty summer. we spent some time on the rides in the front of the park, but the real fun is strolling through the countries. we contemplated having drinks in every country, but were quickly shut down by my personal favorite, germany. despite having had many wonderful moments there, the new policy is that you can only visit the beer garden (and oompa loompa band) if pay for the buffet, which is not vegetarian friendly. thankfully, england was not as discriminating. we imbibed in many a pint and story there. thankfully, our timing was perfect, and we enjoyed the fireworks as we finished dinner in japan. all in all, another great epcot experience with friends.

Eat this, The Gap

i never thought i would be impressed by shirt folding until i saw this video. it’s like magic.

Hahm for Sale!

with a little more than a week until jason and jayme’s wedding, it looks like the Hahmdari is going to happen. the Hahm has been procured and filled with goodies, so once a squid mask is located all systems will be go. yes, i said “squid mask.” i originally thought it was a joke, but it’s an important part of this Korean pre-wedding event. prior to the wedding, the groom fills up a chest, the Hahm, with gifts for the bride’s family. a representative, generally the Best Man, and other men then carry the Hahm to the bride’s family and negotiates a price for the gifts. it’s also a nice excuse for some pre-wedding revelry. so where does the squid mask fit it? see one in action during this Hahmdari.
