our friend laura recently launched her online store for new parents. Andromeda’s Attic carries cloth diapers, baby carriers, and diaper, all handmade of a fantastic quality. we were lucky enough to have her send us a baby carrier that we used quite a bit. unlike most, you can use it for much longer than normal carriers. from her site:

All of our diapers, carriers, and bags are hand cut and sewn with care and attention to detail. Every Andromeda’s Attic design has been tested by real mothers and refined to perfection.

Styles range from kitschy 50/60’s style to modern fun patterns. We are constantly updating the fabric choices so check back often.

WXPN has saved me from having to do a blind taste test on all the kids’ music that is out there. they’ve compiled their favorite discs of 2007 and have a nice player so you can listen as well. so far i’m really digging Candy Band and the Poopsmith Song.

Some enthusiastic parent has modified their stroller into an AT-AT walker, creating one of the coolest strollers I have ever seen. The attention to detail is terrific, I think the mobile of rebel snowspeeders flying over it is my favorite.
Update: Thingamababy has tracked down the dad responsible for the stroller mod and interviewed him about its creation, parenting, and included even more pics.

I’m happy to announce the arrival of Eleanor Claire, daughter to Nancy and Erik. She was born this afternoon, and according to her father, her “specs” are that she weighed 6lbs. 8oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Nora and the entire family are doing well. I send my congratulations to them all!

I have been completely entranced by The Islands video for their song, Don’t Call Me Whitney, Bobby. in addition to be visually mesmerizing, it’s an easy song to get stuck in your head. as an added bonus, maggie loves it and perks up every time we play it.

my new favorite site, Dethroner, posted an hilarious old ad on the benefits of Blatz for babies. (that would be Blatz the beer, not Blatz the kickass punk band.) all i have to say is that after seeing the demented looking child in the ad, i will probably start locking up my beer.

we just discovered that one of the few things that soothes our baby is white noise. as she has been labeled “feisty” by the pediatrician, we are grasping onto anything that will avert a total meltdown. in a very timely fashion, lifehacker just posted about about this sound sleeping soundboard. it’ll be nice to create the right mix to help soothe both baby and parents.
