instructables has a great idea for innovative and old school cd holders - 5 1/4″ diskettes! it’s a nice use of the way out of date floppies, and adds a little novelty to your storage. i’m sure that if you find anyone with leftover floppies they’d probably just give them to you.

Gizmodo recently held a contest for folks to remix the sounds of a dying hard drive. all entries were to be based on five 10 second samples of failing drives. some folks added beats and some rhymes, but the winner used only the samples and tones based on them, and created phenomenal track.
this is very much in line with prepared blank tape, an experiment concocted by nathan and jason with similar results.
